Anastasia

This original production was inspired by the the persistent story that Grande Duchess Anastasia survived the execution of the Romanov family by the Bolshevik Red Army in July of 1918 in Yekarterinburg. It tells of a young man (here named Dimitrius) who hires an "actress" (Anya) to play the role of Anastasia and fool the Dowager Empress in Paris. As they travel to Paris from Russia, they are followed by Rasputin who wishes the destruction of this last heir to the Romanov claim as Ruler of All the Russias. In the end, Rasputin is destroyed, and Anya is proven to be the long lost Grande Duchess Anastasia. Anastasia is reunited with Dimitrius and seems to be headed into a "happily ever after" ending.
